In the Midst of the Surge, Iraqi Parliament Opts for Vacation

More footnotes from the Mad Hatter's party:

Do the Iraqi’s Measure Up?

Try this one on for size.

Let’s just set the scene: American GI’s are pouring out their blood out to salvage the Iraqi Government especially during this critical period when US force have been painfully augmented under George Bush’s “Surge” policy. The objective: To reduce the bloodshed between Sunni and Shia’ while the Iraqi government makes the hard choices necessary for a fledgling government that must stand together or face collapse.

In realization of the critical decisions they face that many see as a watershed for the future viability of this government, it in turn has remarkable reserves of nonchalance. Consider that in view of the challenges it faces, this Ptomakin-like government has shown its commitment and courage by declaring that it is preparing for its two month long summer vacation. Gadzooks! Are we kidding? No, this is the kind of melodrama that the world is confronted with at a time of great uncertainty while the more rational voices says dump the whole gang and let the Iraqi’s pick their own particular poison.

For many who see the profound irony in propping up a government that doesn’t even take itself seriously, it is time to pull the plug.

For others on the outside who shape public opinion, this is just further confirmation of this sham government’s failure of will and the fact that Parliament members clearly do not represent the interests or needs of the Iraqi people. In fact, they can’t even relate to them.
It also steals the argument from our government’s credo that this government is worth the blood of American GI’s. We now know with great certainty that the only thing this government is worth is a bucket of warm spit.

It’s now time to hold Bush’s toes to the fire and push forward on the legislation that will take our troops home and end this enduring ad embarrassing fiasco.
