The Iowa Debates...
Or a profound lesson in obfuscation, misdirection and deceit.
Imagine the chutzpah of these characters. They see nothing; hear nothing and admit nothing. Just like the three chimps who are blindsided to anything that might be used to point a finger at their dismal performance over the last six years. To them, it's the best of all possible worlds and they are the reason....
Talk about objective debate...
In fact, if something went wrong it was typically because some liberal progressive was soft on terrorism or some other likely explanation that had little or nothing to do with the facts or the involvement of the Republicans.
None of the candidates had any memory when it came to whether the attack on Iraq was justified or not; with the exception of Ron Paul.
Tom Tancredo had the simple solution. Screw around with us, he said, in so many words and we will decimate Mecca and Medina.
Boy, there’s a well reasoned solution for you.
McCain sounded so buried in the past that he was beginning to sound like a relic unable to think new thoughts based on information. No one could get him off his tired and unreal pedestal that suggested that the ‘surge’ was working…
It was as if his mind shut off. He seemed a shadow of the man who conducted a good campaign in 1999.
The former New York City Mayor, Giuliani, had already sounded his two note theme.
We need Giuliani’s experience which was equivalent to running Baghdad one might imagine from listening to him portray New York as hell on earth; or his alternative theme, the progressive, liberal “pinkos” did it.
That’s what I got out of Giuliani. He blamed the democrats for not mentioning Islamic terrorism once in the previous debate, as if wishing could make it so; nor did he use the opportunity to tell the truth about we got into this predicament in the first place and whether we are getting anywhere….
A little candor could have gone a long way.
Notice up until now, I hadn’t mentioned Mitt Romney. He is Mr. Too Slick for Me, boy.
He’s got an answer for everything and every answer makes him look like the deux ex machina that he isn’t.
Mitt is a genius in his own mind.
The talk went on yet nobody posed a realistic solution to anything….
The second tier guys sounded mostly second tier.
Congressman Hunter was ready to ignite the flames of hatred and sounded one step away from bombing Mexico….when he wasn’t tooting his own horn….
Tancredo sounded dangerous. The other two guys, the Creationists, seemed to be almost interchangeable puppets on a stick…
And somehow it was all disingenuous and condescending and boring….
After the debate was over, I felt like they could all use a good laxative.
Clearly, it was a case of here I am, look at me politics where cheap generalizations and false testimony was the rule of the day.
Hopefully, the people of Iowa will not be taken in so easily.
To me, the Republicans have nothing honest or valuable to contribute to the debate.
