Those Who Don't Remember the Past....
The feelings are coming back.
It's deja vu all over again.
Instead of Nixon, however, it's Bush.
Nixon knew at least he ultimately was going to have to cater to the people.
Bush is going to face off against the entire nation.
Why? Because he can only deal with one idea at a time. And that idea is that he is right.
But Americans after four years are no longer sitting tight and saying, "Sure, whatever you say, roll over me with a tank!"
No, they are beginning to awaken.
Americans are unhappy with what they see.
They are unhappy that wounded Americans are filling our hospitals all around the country. That we are not extending the best care to our wounded. That dead Americans are being sneaked into the country late at night. Meanwhile, our Vice President says that everything is going well.
It's not going well.
If the truth be known, I venture to say that the numbers of seriously wounded are four to eight times higher than the Pentagon will admit.
That our Army is understaffed with qualified people. And that our military has become hollow, unable to fill the most important MOS from a volunteer army that too much has been asked of...
That our generals and the CIA are being bullied to play the administration's game.
People are unhappy with our role as international bully of the world.
We have squandered our capital..
We have threatened our allies and alienated our friends.
The Chinese have seized the initiative in many areas and you are not hearing about it.
We talk tough but the Chinese own America and what they don't own, the Japanese, the English and the Saudis do.
We have become a net importer of manufactured goods; a net exporter of scrap. Of scrap, mind you.
All of our profits go off shore to who knows where; the biggest companies in America pay little or no taxes.
The burdens on the Middle Class have been horrific.
Jobs fly off to India and China.
Green cards come in and perform the work here because they work for 25% of the cost.
Yet, we countenance illegal workers and make it easy for them to get credit cards and social security.
We can't have it both ways. We can't send all of our good jobs off shore, eliminate manufacturing, ship the profits to Switzerland and Carribean islands and hope to remain a strong country. It just doesn't work that way!....
Something is so wrong with America that it boggles the mind...
We can't fix a City....we can't win a war. About all we can do is make bombs and weapons, enriching the few and depriving the many.
We now threaten Iran in a mind-numbing exercise in chutzpah, a country three times larger with three times the population, a country that has survived other countless attacks for two thousand years!...
We blame Al Qaeda but Al Qaeda is not the cause; it's our own interest in dominating the world and controlling natural resources and fossil fuels.
Even Russia has had it with us!...
I have never seen the people so angry before and it parallels my experience when I was overseas in the sixties...
If the president does not budge from his position; if we continue down the path, there is only mayhem and chaos that awaits us.
Right now, our government is getting ready for riots.
They are setting up detention centers.
Very soon there will be very few freedoms left!
I hope Bush does not push us to that point!
