While the President tans,

Our troops surge…

I saw Bush today. He was entertaining the French president Sarkozy at the family home in Maine and it looked as if he didn’t have a care in the world. The Frenchman asked if he would come to France and asked if he spoke French and the president said something like “I’m lucky that I speak English.” So much truth in a jest!...

Today, he goes to the ranch to enjoy his holiday—a holiday from politicking for after all, what has he done for America except try to convince us why he’s right to take away our rights and start wars!....

According to the record, he has exceeded the Reagan record of a total of one year of vacation during his term… A vacation from a vacation; not bad for someone who's arrogance and resoluteness earned him a free ride at every turn...

But, now, it is vacation time....and a reminder that the Iraqi Parliament is away, too. It is as if this nation's sacrifice is not important enough to stay fixated on solving the problem of three ethnic groups who hate each other....…

And then the Congress rushed through with the vote that allows the president to eavesdrop without court approval before they rushed out to resume their own vacations indicating that there are surges and there are surges...in this case a surge to vacation resorts and beaches...

Everybody seems to be on vacation these days….

That is except for a 150,000 plus American troops committed to this country’s SURGE policy which means while the rest of the world, the congress, the Iraqi Parliament, and the president are enjoying their vacation, they are sweltering with a hundred pounds of equipment on their back and heavy armor and all of the other supplies they need on an average patrol, slogging it out in one hundred and thirty five degrees temperature in the middle of a hell hole where shaped munitions can blow a hole in seven inch armor…

While everyone is enjoying their holidays, maybe it would be nice if our selected leader took a moment out to think about what he’s asked of our youth in a manufactured war for

Economic purposes.

In time, the war in Iraq will be seen for what it is and inquiries held and investigations with one general blaming the Pentagon and the Pentagon blaming the Vice President; it is yet to come; but that will not do much for the 3500 men and women who gave their lives for no reason or the 25,000 seriously wounded who will never be the same again.

Something to think about as our president rides his cigarette boat as if he didn’t have a care in the world. It is so déjà vu. His unthinking, insensitive father did the same thing when the country was suffering through one of our worst recessions and a loss of jobs that was pernicious and people couldn't afford to pay their health bills.

Not much has changed!
