It’s Not What You Thought. NY Times poll shatters some illusions…

We have heard all kinds of claims to the contrary, but after viewing the results of the New York Times latest poll demonstrate some interesting challenges to our assumptions.

Here’s just a couple of notable highlights:

For example, among republicans surveyed, 75 % voice acceptance for his positions and his ability to lead the country and foreign policy.

Six out of ten queried feel that the current candidates do not reflect their
Expectations in a candidate and would like to see more choices offered. On the other hand, in democratic polls, nearly six out of ten were satisfied with the range of candidates offered.

But perhaps most interesting is the fact that 34% of Republicans do not feel that the Party, such as it is, reflects their current political interests. This is the lowest this score has been since 1998. On the other hand, of those surveyed, 47% felt that they had a favorable view of the Democratic Party.

As a result of these polls, nearly 40% of Republicans feel that Democrats will win; while 46% believe the Republicans will hold the reigns of government.

Among Democrats surveyed, on the other hand, only 12% felt that Republicans would win….

It is clear that the most interesting aspect of this study is that the people who consider themselves Republican tend to overwhelmingly support the choice of the party but collectively are dissatisfied with the direction of the party, per se.
