The Great Model for the Great Country!...

Politics Blog Top Sites
The Great Economic Model

If someone were to tell you that they had a great model for a great country, would you listen..

In this model, the country would be big and powerful and just. This Great Country would field the world’s most powerful Armed forces. And as part of their greatness, they would travel around the world in Imperial Armadas that would be used to convince everyone else they were great even if it was viewed by friend and foe as a form of intimidation and threat.

In this model there would be no provision for making friends or finding a way to keep this great country afloat due to the enormity of impressing the rest of the world with its greatness. Greatness had its price! Nor was there any place for ethical behavior or a moral foundation. This model was extraordinary because it combined modern technology with monarchal greed and inexorable ambition!=all built for profit of the few over the many.

So as a consequence of their disdain for other people, everyone in this great country was disliked. And those who disliked us decided to set an example that would label them terrorists by the leaders of the Great Country. As a result, the leaders of this great country could dismantle all of the things that were reported to make it great and do whatever they pleased to get even with the enemy by making bigger profits offshore…
And making their friends even richer than Croesus…which was the whole purpose of the model in the first place No false modesty here!.

According to this model, too, all of the business leaders could make more profits by sending their businesses and jobs to other countries that didn’t have vacation days off or sick days. And they would say that this is fair. And those countries would create trade—ie. Send us everything we needed to get by so that we were not only ‘great,’ we were helping the rest of the world, not to mention all of those businesspeople who were making great profits; only in the model, there was no provision that considered the status of the Middle Class—the average wage earner who had made the country great in the first place and now was a gross importer of everything they consumed..

It was clear that under our great government there was no need for business to be loyal to the great country where it made its profits or any kind of commitment to the paying of taxes. Therefore, to finance our great armadas that sailed the seven seas, money had to be siphoned off from other things like education and health care.

In this great land, the key to further success was education but now there was no money to help children from the inner city avoid the attractions of crime. So our leaders created an entire new profit making enterprise called private prisons. It was easier to fund private prisons with taxpayer monies than to invest in education to help out those who would eventually drop through the safety net anyway and didn’t vote.

To underwrite these great enterprises to make our country even more great, everything would be for sale or lease. Our oil under the ground, our antique growth lumber. Even our roads and ports—despite the fact that those who were the prospective buyers were rumored to come from the same part of the world as those who threatened to do away with us. But no matter.

And even though our government guaranteed our protection, the naysayers among us were saying that we were no better off than before—that our borders were stll porous and that anybody could come across carrying anything.

It was the penultimate question; but it was ultimately ignored in the interests of fulfilling the short term objectives of the model…and so the media went back to sleep and the representatives continued to mispresent us..

But when you’re a great government—and you can’t think of a way to profit from protecting your borders—you simply change the subject. And if necessary, they could always trot out the Second GreatLeader the would swear on a stack of bibles that things were fine and if you didn’t believe him, you were suspect of being less than a patriot!....(with an admonition that the firing squad would be next!)

So, now although we no longer have great jobs—in fact, in most cases if you discount the phony statistics, you might discover that we have no jobs!....and that we export scrap to our largest potential enemy whom we don’t recognize as such,, and we import manufacturing goods which puts us into a whole new category of Colony….governed by a Great Power with a Great Armada.

Yet, when the Great leader calls, we still fall out for all of the pomp and circumstance. We march in the parades; wave the flags and say to our friends, “Aren’t we Great?”
And everyone smiles and retreats to their home to drink vast quantities of intoxicating substances to maintain our delusions…

. And to guarantee labor and jobs, the great country would ignore the illegals who poured over the borders and took on the work that nobody else wanted….which made the legal middle class even poorer because they had held down some of those jobs that the government claimed nobody wanted. As a result, the Unions that had built the great country had become irrelevant and lost membership and an effective voice…And somehow, all the rest of us got progressively poorer.

And then to keep us in line, all of those mortgage companies who cheated us with low mortgage rates, raised them together and made our houses unaffordable….So that all of the great people of the great country could now benefit from the fresh air and become healthier without the government lifting a finger.

And nobody used the word usury because that went out of fashion after the banks had already taken everything we owned.

In the meantime, we were encouraged to think good thoughts.

All in all, the great country had accomplished its objectives. It had eliminated the laws it didn’t like. It had started wars that it couldn’t finish that kept the ammo suppliers and weapons makers happy. It had shipped its jobs elsewhere except for the jobs held by illegals and it had turned one people against another. It had postponed all of the policies that would keep its people healthy and happy by forgetting about clean air and clean water.

But, most importantly, it seemed stronger than ever. It was still sending its Armadas around the world; still threatening its neighbors and still making big profits for its businesses while working towards total domination and control of the world’s economy—an economy dominated by white men from the same backgrounds and education who believed that only they knew what was best for the rest of the world!...

And in the meantime, the water levels rose!...
