Living in the Bushean Age
I was watching the Dark Ages the other night.
It was about people being bullied by their neighbors and their governments and in believing in miracles where they would be saved. In other words, just like today.
I don't remember being threatened more for my lack of patriotism and aidding and abetting the enemy than during the Bushean Age which is starting to remind me of the late Jurrasic Age. Also, do you remember a time of more religious thrashing back and forth.
Leaders that hear the word of the Lord.
People spouting the End of Days....
It's all pretty reminiscent of the prepre Renaisance period.
Think about it. It was a period when nobody knew nothing. Not so much different than today. It was time nobody read; not unlike today. And nobody trusted anyone else. I mean the parallels are mind-boggling.
At this point, however, we hear a lot about miracles.
And that was true also of the Dark Ages.
Even Attila got conned by the Pope who convinced him not to sake Rome; although others tended to believe it went in one ear and out the other; Attila really had a sick army on his hands since disease was rampant in those days. And came back another day.
But the Pope made out, too, with selling benifaces and church relics. I mean how many relics could you get out of one fat pontiff? And they had to be worth a gold coin each. I mean what rich man didn't want a relic to save him from Hell. It was like selling life insurance and a good pitch man could raise enough t build the Hagia Sofia i would imagine.
Anyway, we seem to be awash in religion and the prospect of miracles.
Miracles will remove us from the challenges we face in Iraq. Miracles will save the globe from global warming which threatens to sink all of our major cities. And kill off most of the food chain.
Miracles will also help us obtain cheap oil from our enemies.
That's a little bit like Isaac Newton's experiments trying to transform base metals into gold.
But at least the Brazilians have made some headway and who knows, some day we may be driving cars on sugar and water. And then ten years later, someone will tell us we all have diabetes. No, there is simply no good answer without guilt. It is preordained.
Meanwhile the gods who sit in the White Temple tell us don't worry about the War because the Disease of the chickens is yet to come and you're not going to survive anyway.
It's tough living in the modern dark ages.
But there's some good news: A new comet is headed this way and it may solve all of our problems and end the Bushean Age and transform us into something new, perhaps the Obamian Period where everybody loves everybody. We can hope can't we.
