"The Great Imposter"

Conning the Con Men...

Okay, here's the picture. This guy comes to you and tells you that he wants to help you. So, attempting to do your job, you check out his background and it turns out he's a liar, a swindler and a complete fraud; you know from his track record that you cannot believe a word he says. He not only talks out of both sides of his mouth, he will always take the side of those who offer the best remuneration. What do you do? Of course, you hire him and pay him hundreds of thousands of dollars a month.
Unbelievable!
You bet. But this character is still plying his wares and still making money hand over fist at everyone's expense but his own. But this man's eggregious soul goes further than greed and self-aggrandisement. His claims have literally started wars; yet, mind you, he still garners access to the highest elected officials.

Who is this Dantian figure who elicits some much emotion?
Who do you think? Ahmed Chalabi! And the people who made this incredible deal to hire him with your tax dollars? Of course, the US government. They had little hesitation about entering into a pact with the Devil in some Faustian scheme that still rattles today. Why the Hell not it wasn't their money...

The King of Jordan, himself, warned Bush that Chalabi was a crook and had defrauded the people of Jordan of hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank that he ran.

The stories about Chalabi run deep. He was rumored to have used the INC (the American run Iraqi National Congress) as a vehicle for his own manipulation and advancement. And cut every corner he could whenever he could. Yet, you had to hand it to him, he always found other con men who bought his lies for their own ends.

In any event, according to government sources, Chalabi was the man who influenced the research conducted on Iraq and the source of the idea that Iraq was training in weapons of mass destruction. If anyone was guilty of providing the kind of bad information that our government was seeking in order to build a case to go to War it had to be Ahmed Chalabi. Yet, even now, as a figure in the new government of Iraq, he often uses his position to seek favoritism and access to the government and because of the influential role he plays, he seems not to be denied.

Clearly, it is time for us to get away from all of this double dealing and return to honest government with clear and honest objectives; not something we've seen in Washington in six years! But in the end it begins with honest men; not liars who oft-repeated claims of patriotism, religion, and values ring particularly hollow...
