When Castles Are A Dime A Dozen...

Politics Blog Top SitesA man's home is his castle:

Remember when that most people believed in that simple bit of rubbish.
As most people tend to think in today’s mega-material world your home is the bank's castle.
Nor can we even naively believe any longer that our home furnishes protection especially after Katrina. Now, there are a lot of castles that are under water and not protected by your friendly insurance agent who loved you when you were paying the exorbitant premiums but now tends to be out every time you call.

Sad to say, the age of fairy tales has struck an obstacle. And that obstacle has to do with the fact that once you peel back the veneer that our society affords, and others outside learn that you are without defenses, watch out. They will pluck out your eyes just for fun! It doesn't matter whether you are pink black, brown or orange for that matter.
You are a something to be picked over...
That seems to be the law of the land these days!
If they're down, kick them again.

This is not to say all people, but enough to make you want to stay in bed and suck your thumb. No, there are some damn good people but most of them will not or do not have a say in whether you will survive or not.

It wasn't bad enough that during this administration, the poor had to make fundamental decisions like shall I buy my medicine or eat dinner; shall I send the kids to school or pay my mortgage. The government in all its cleverness abdicated many of these responsibilities and bounced the rest of them off the already reeling states...

In the end, the people became the shock absorbers because everything that went wrong inevitably went down hill and hit on the small guys who had no defense. As a result, the mistaken bond that tied the people to their government has been broken and will never mend.

But who cares?

The truth is that when you're a Republican consumed by greed and self interest, who cared if the guy taking the hit was in a blue state, an urban area or whatever, for the most part, he didn't vote so in government short hand, he didn't count! And that was the bottom line.

That's what made all of the short-cuts possible.

Cut back aid for the school, who cares? The people affected don't vote! so they carry no weight. And that's how it goes. Keep them dumb, medicated and over-entertained and you can do whatever you want to do with complete freedom from a dumbed down disengaged congress...

Those who suggest that this is all about color are missing the point, it has very little to do with color; it's about power and the misuse of power and it's strong vs. weak whatever color you are. If it is about color, it's about the color of states; not the color of your skin. Did you see how fast Bush responded to the calls from Senators and other representatives of Red States? Damned right. Whoever said that government is fair probably never had an opportunity to see the present executioners and judges at work in the land of plenty!

It will change, however, and that's the good news; the bad news is that it will only happen when those people kicked about so many times get up and say 'enough is enough!. End of story!
