The Architect of Change. Not!

Clearly, the hot word today in New Hampshire is ‘change.”

In fact, virtually everyone is spouting it. But perhaps it’s funniest coming out of the mouth of Mitt Romney was has shown a willingness to try every catch word under the Sun.

He is conservative; a patriot; a man of great values; a hunter (unfortunately disproved), a member of the IRA; a businessman; a leader among men, a wise and humble prophet of God, and now he is an agent of change.

It is laughable to hear that the man who is the son of George Romney who was the governor of Michigan and ran for president, and one who was brought up in a political family can even suggest that he has nothing to do with Washington or inside the Beltway politics.

Yet, that’s precisely what he says. And with of all things, a straight face.

He doesn’t even know when he’s lying. (He’d make a great Republican president following the current model.)

He says that he is the man who can make change happen.

And McCain spoofed on him agreeing that he is the candidate of change, change of position every time he finds one that might add a voter or two. The only thing that is consistent about the man is that he would sell his mother if there were enough votes in it..

One might suspect that if the buzzword changes tomorrow to being heroic, he would immediately lay claim to the phrase suggesting that he has been heroic all his life in attempting to compile a fortune and staying out of the service of his country.

He has flip-flopped so often so many times that Mitt has tragically become virtually a caricature; the sad part being that he doesn’t even seem to recognize how forlorn a character he really is. One wonders how he can even look at himself in the mirror in the morning while shaving.

Every man must have his core that defines him.

With Romney, his core seems to change daily.

For the first time, America has for itself a candidate who can be anything we want him to be. And if he’s not careful, he might snap in half.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street republican rich cringe every time he opens his mouth finding additional reinforcement for the idea that Mitch Romney as candidate of the republicans is one of the worst ideas ever.

It is a bad year for republicans; they can’t seem to find the one candidate who they can live with.

Even McCain is viewed as an unpredictable candidate who they can’t trust to move their conservative agendas forward. But even he would be preferable if he wasn’t so locked in to his medieval preoccupation with war and winning.

Undoubtedly, this is the legacy of a presidency that has left everyone floundering for a toe hold at a time where there are no white knights coming forward capable of claiming the mantle of leadership….at least any who have a shred of credibility.

It is a bitter pill to swallow.

But some might say that republicans brought it on themselves.
