It’s not Rome, it’s Norman, Oklahoma; but what they might say could
Change what happens this Election Year.

I don’t think it’s too early to start speculating about the planned meeting in Norman Oklahoma where a number of politicians are getting together to see whether it makes sense to start a new party.

I believe this meeting was encouraged by Michael Bloomberg as a way of testing the water to see whether there is serious interest in a third party.

Is there?

After Iowa, I’m not to sure.

Here’s the reason: Obama has sucked all of the oxygen out of the air.

There is literally no place for a third party to go unless it just exists as a symbol of protest.

I don’t see under such circumstances the possibility of any traction.

The pundits say that Huckabee has no place to go.

Well, so far, he’s proved them wrong. And with a potential base of some fifty million people I wouldn’t write him off quite yet.

Of course, the real Wall Street conservatives really hate him.

He represents everything they can’t stand i.e. regard for the common man, compassion,
Values and the rest; but the Evangelicals seem to be gathering around him.

Romney has responded to a man who won despite outspending him 17 to 1 by changing his tune yet again.

Today, he is the agent of change; the man not influenced by Washington politics.

Who knows? One suspects that the real conservatives will rally around him or McCAin and they can bring the money to bear.

Although, as we’ve already observed, money is not the end all; otherwise, Romney would be sitting in the catbird seat.

Obama and Huckabee represent real change.

And I think Bloomberg is smart enough to realize that and he will shelve his third party plans for now.

But ambition is a strange bedfellow and perhaps it’s too early to call it.

So, we shall just have to see what this coalition of democratic and republican leaders have to say a week from now in a small town in Oklahoma.

Meanwhile, we’ll all have to face up to an environment where Obama is favored to bring out the young sophisticates and the Independents in even greater numbers.

What a wild ride we are on.

Hold onto your seats, folks.

The Campaign of Hope is moving forward.
