"TALK IS CHEAP!"
Here is the place: The mysterious Internet, the springboard for all change!. The hotbed of involvement. There are people engaged here at every level doing all of the things left wing liberals, progressives and hot blooded youths tend to do: We do the literary version of what the French are doing on the streets. Yes or no? I am afraid the answer is no. At least, that's been my experience. You take a look at the composition of most groups and you will find that about the same number get involved in the dialogue as those out of a group who actually work. Some do; some don't. Most don't.
They don't want to get connected. They are afraid. They are self-involved. They feel let the others do it. It takes too much work; is too draining; is no fun!
Then they ask, "WHY DO WE HAVE THIS KIND OF GOVERNMENT? WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CROOKS IN OFFICE?..."
HELLO!
Statistically, I've discovered that most of the involvement comes from grannies and grand-pa's who don't want to leave this mess to their grand-kids and are old enough to remember when hope and flowers were everywhere....and no one would ever think of disabusing the environment.
Why don't more people get involved. I've asked a few. And most say they already know that Bush is a bum and there's nothing else that can be done. So why bother? which usually invokes some spirited debate from my side.
Well, if you believe that, I will send you my list of what actually can be done by one person to change the status quo or you can check it out yourself on my website lesaaron.blogspot.com if AOL doesn't shut off this message first.
Don't worry!
I have a number of other sites we can turn to. Right now, I will have to give MINDthinktankers, the Yahoo group credit for turning out a lot of good, informed dialogue, mostly positive, I feel on a wide range of meaningful subjects. But that's not the overall average. It is the feeling here that while we struggle in our way to produce positive change that the most results can be obtained from small working groups. that's how I started out when I backed Dean and we eventually got together two hundred supporters and followers to make the case... And we could have done more if we had more money and more support.
But that's typically howl it goes. The few do for lthe many. Otherwise, how come I can't think of more than a couple of dozen who played key roles in shaping the beginnings of our country. Right now, we are working on many things: We are trying to get to the bottom of 9/11....We are going to preview films of the election fakery that went on in 2000 and 2004...
And we are going to start discussion groups to push forward on an agenda. These are the kind of things I write about in my new book and I want to see them come to pass. Please come and visit my Blog listed above and get involved. We need all of the help and support we can get from the involved citizenry.
