And what Needs to Be Done to Restore It to Health…

Introduction:
Virtually half of the population, more than 50 million Americans has been side-lined by a government more intent on satisfying its own aspirations than those of the people it has sworn to uphold.
We democrats, independents, “Greens,” libertarians and those classified simply as “others” have been silenced by a withering PR barrage that emanates from the White House. We have been subjected to the most media blitz in history designed to make the rest of us seem irrelevant, unpatriotic and un-American. It is appalling and demeaning yet if you check the service records of this cabal of sun-shine patriots, you will something very interesting. Virtually all of them have avoided or ducked their obligation to serve their country in time of need through their privileged connections or other ruses. This is simply one insight of many into a government that can say one thing and do another with a straight face, a government that has turned the tables on democracy and hewed to policies that have only served to alienate and polarize the people of this land; a far cry from the promise of compassion that served as the slogan of its very media-savvy progenitors of change.
The fact is that what we are being exposed to is something new in the American experience, a new form of autocracy that has enabled the government to leave democracy behind under the ruse of protecting us against some abstract notion of terrorism. It is a tactic designed to consolidate control of the public while appearing to protect their interests; but for the most part, it serves to separate the voter from the freedoms built into their government. . Unfortunately, it is has worked to their advantage resulting in the most dangerous and free-wheeling government to emerge in two hundred years. And our reaction to it for the most part has been thunderous silence that will echo in the history books long after we are gone….
As ‘the rest of America’, we have been subjected to every kind of indignity and humiliation that a right wing autocracy can impose on a free people. Considering what has been said and done in the name of democracy, we are long past the time for Americans to rally and expose this government for what it is….
But as experience shows, saying that we are facing the death of the two party systems and an autocracy that does what it wants is not the same thing as showing those who insult our intelligence the door.
If we truly want to restore the kind of government envisioned by our forefathers and laid out in the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution,…if we truly want to return to a forward-looking America that sees the glass as half full rather than half-empty, we are going to have to work for it…What is yet to be revealed is that if we, the public, do not intercede on behalf of our traditional form of two party rule and the rule of the Constitution, there is no one else to fall back on considering that for the most part, the lobby system, TV and communications have combined to deprive us of both the support of our elected officials and the Fourth Estate.
Truly, what lies ahead is the will of the people and what we do from here on out will decide our ultimate fate.
In effect, we are the current day equivalent of the Minutemen of Concord who were instrumental in deciding
The fate of a nation…
In that light, our options are few:
“We must act to save our country!”
