Bush’s Big Sacrifice:

Get this folks. When it came to the sacrifices of the troops in the Iraq War, Bush wants us to know that our veterans and those who gave their lives, were not alone.

He gave up something near and dear, too..

How did his personal sacrifice measure up to those who gave their families, their children or their loved ones?

He said with a straight face that he gave up golf.

Of course, this was the same time, he had hurt his leg and couldn’t play. And the truth was he was pulled off the field when news was released of a murder of a UN official in the Middle East.

(Sad to say, despite what he avers, he actually was photographed golfing long after that date.)

But even then, some might think that Bush’s big sacrifice is only another barometer of the fact that Bush doesn’t get it. That he is incredibly tone deaf and selfish—a family trait. Without understanding or compassion.

He gave up golf!....My, my, give me a break!

“No” to testifying, says Rove

Carl Rove says, “no.” He will not testify! And that his reason has to do with Executive Privilege.

E Excuse me? Doesn’t that have to do with confidentiality for State secrets.

What does that have to do with the Governor’s charges?

A congressional committee investigating what many say was the wrongful arrest and imprisonment of its Governor, says that Carl Rove is implicated it what many thought was ‘trumped-up’ charges by Federal Prosecutors at the insistence of Carl Rove.

.
In fact, the Constitution specifically guards against its use in such case for just such reasons anticipating that some snake in the grass, like Mr. Rove, might use it to protect himself against the rule of law.

The consensus was that the attacks on those at the State level may have had more to do with whether someone was a democrat or republican inasmuch as evidence has come out that Rove had issued orders to prosecutors to pursue cases against democrats wherever possible at the State level.

Edwards comes out in support of Obama….
Good news for Obama fans…
Former candidate Edwards endorses Barack.
This should make a difference with the working class poor who identified with Edwards.

Edwards had 17 pledged delegates which could go to Obama virtually erasing the lead obtained from West Virginia yesterday.

Obama continues to pick up delegates every day cementing his lead over Hillary and almost virtually securing his nomination by the end of the primary season….

Even Hillary has turned down the rhetoric and said in an interview with CNN that at the end, the party will come together to win in November.

Good news all around!

What would a democratic win mean?

According to Bush, it would mean that America would get attacked again.

I kid you not. This is what the man said.

He as much as said that during an afternoon interview with the media.

Of course it also means, that the reason we didn’t get attacked after 9/11 was because we had a republican in office.

To make a comment like that really leads one to the realization that it doesn’t matter how low he sinks…

To bring the 9/11 argument into political discourse is an embarrassment that knows no bounds. When it comes to absuirdist remarks, Bush seems to know no bounds.

When you think about it, we would have done better with an inanimate object.

At least an inanimate object doesn’t make a damn fool out of itself every time you ask it a question..

Moreover, It doesn’t start wars.

And it doesn’t approve misguided business policies that cause people to lose their homes or send our jobs to foreign shores….

Maybe not such a bad idea after all.

Republicans lose in a sure-thing election….

Meanwhile, the republicans take it on the chin again.

Never was there a more republican district than the one up for grabs in Northern Mississippi which today went for a democrat.

This led a prominent elected official to say in so many words that if the republican party was dog food, the retailer had better take it off the shelf because nobody’s buying it.

Republicans will be festering over this loss through the upcoming election….

You know, today was a sad day for most artists.

It was the day that Robert Rauschenberg died.

Rauschenberg was probably the most preeminent artist and innovator in the twentieth century.

This larger than life presence dominated the world of ideas…

He did it all, from being a stage director to finding a new way to think of ordinary things as pieces of art.

I knew Rauschenberg indirectly through a friend and professor who had worked over the years as an aide experimenting with graphics and printing.

He went on to start the famous South Florida Graphics Center some twenty years before and saw it grow to fame—the first center of its kind in Southwestern Florida.

Also, Don Saff handled the arrangements of some of Rauschenberg’s most important world tours and exhibitions.

We all mourn Rauschenberg’s loss and think the art world the poorer for his passing.

May his spirit live on through the inspiration he’s afforded so many over the course of more than fifty years.

Have We All Become Brain-washed.

Over the past eight years, we’ve been fed a diet of lies and misstatements designed to blur the truth.

The editors of Slate and other news forums have demonstrated that over and over again.

Of course, the fact is that what we see and hear these days seems to be dominated by some ten monolithic media giants who seem to have reached that spot because they have been gracious and accommodating to the government in charge. Read “suck up” here!

Sad to say that isn’t how democracy works. Or isn’t how it should work. And when people have to question their new source’s validity and ethics, you know we are all in bad shape.

Most recently, it was the New York Times again for swallowing the PR detritus re Iranian weapons. On closer examination, it turned out that this information came directly from the government’s PR office; only it had little to do with the truth.

The fact is that the weapons claimed to be of Iranian manufacture, actually had no markings or identifiers to corroborate that fact and some objective third party has come out and said that.

It is clear that this cabal is trying to establish a climate conducive to an invasion of Iran.

If they do, it is clear that it will based on false premises.

Hopefully, Americans have wised up to what’s going on inside the Beltway.

Are we Just Getting Dumber?

When we look at the economy, most of us are aghast to find the jobs have fled our shores.

Where have they gone?

Try India for starters.

The Indians are making mince-meat of American labor.

But the question is why?

Well, when you clear out the political reasons, the fact is that there aren’t too many Americans left who can perform abstract reasoning or handle a math equation.

When it comes to education, the system hasn’t been working for years….and the government’s attitude is to bury the problem for the next guy.

But that’s not going to work if we want to reassert our leadership in science and technology.

We first have to recognize the problem. And no question about it when a high percentage of American students don’t know simple things like who did we go to war against in World War Two, or who was their leader? You just have to scratch your head.

Whomever is the nominee certainly has his or her work cut out for them….

And all we can say is “Good Luck.”
