Not Knowing When to Call it Quits?

West Virginia.

Hillary won as expected in West Virginia by margins of 2 to 1.

In her speech to the people of West Virginia which Terry MacAuliffe heralded as the best speech since the Sermon on the Mount, Hillary delivered no surprises.

She was still in the race to win.

And she commented that after all the states she's won, including Miami and Michigan, which she originally admitted was not going to count, it was still a close race.

Hillary has had an amazing facility for reinventing the past and changing the benchmarks to suit her own criteria.

In the beginning, it was the popular vote, then it was the Super Delegates then she began talking about the Electoral College.

It was a bullish speech.

She did not resort to the same attack tactics on the opposition.

And she was accompanied by all the flourishes as she asked the people who voted for her, to show their support by going to her website and donating money.

The truth is that Hillary is between a rock and a hard place.

Despite her showing, the race is really not close.

She would not only have to win all of the remaining primaries by substantial margins, she would have to win virtually all of the unpledged and Super Delegates who have not committed at this point to win.

And that is not likely to happen!....

The fact is that it would mean going against the popular vote, and it is doubtful whether the Super Delegates would indulge in this form of political suicide.

At the same time, she has to pay her vendors over the next several weeks and attempt to pay back herself and her husband the more than 10 million dollars they have invested in the race so far.

As the candidate heads to Kentucky next week, and the window gets smaller and smaller, one wonders how much she really believes she can win.....

in any event, she has demonstrated that in terms of audacity and toughness, she is a force to be reckoned with despite what she may decide to do with the rest of her career.

For women, she has shown by her tenacity and fortitude that, yes, someday a woman might become president, but the chances at this point of it being Hillary are extremely slim.
