SATIRE: from Maddsquire
PRENEWS: Tomorrows news today! A high ranking military officer at the Pentagon sent classified documents to several major newspapers that indicate that President Bush has been tipping off Osama bin Laden to American and allied military actions intended to apprehend him. While several Democrats in Congress--off the record, of course--have denounced Bush's action as treasonous, the White House has being playing down the revelations. At the regular White House news briefing spokesperson Scott McClellan repeated over and over again that the president was simply trying to keep bin Laden in play until there were more of his cohorts around the make his capture more meaningful. The president, according to McClellan, is the commander in chief, so if he wants to let an enemy of America off the hook for the 9/11 disaster he has that power. Moreover, because Saddam Hussein was responsible for the worst disaster in American history, the president didn't think bin Laden could be convicted of being involved in 9/11 even by his hand picked, ultra-constitutional military commission set up to try terrorists. An editorial in the Washington Post noted that in a time of war against terror, we have to cut a "war" president a little slack. TIB
