A few of us have gathered together to form the Progressive Liberal Coalition to bring like minded people together to effectuate positivie change in the 08 election. This has recently spawned the Ad Hoc 08 Committee for Positive Change, a private group intent on finding the best possible candidate to pick up the standard for the democratic party.

As we see it, this is not just any election: We are at a great watershed; how this election turns out may actually decide whether we have a two party system or whether democracy can survive the current Executive power grab. Over the last five years, we have seen threat after threat made to the survival of Democracy. From snooping by the Executive to torture that violates what western democracy is all about to the actual dismantling of our Constitution piecemeal by a government that has grown power hungry and intoxicated with the belief that its judgments are infallible. The enemy is not AlQaeda but our own government that seeks power to advance its own ends at the expense of our Constitution and our way of life. .

We believe that one person has demonstrated over the past six years an ability to understand and articulate the issues, to make the citizenry aware of the dangers of a over-arching, expansionist government which zealously advocates gathering power for its own ends, a candidate who combines the intelligence, experience and stature needed to take on the great task of rebuilding America.

We believe that man is Al Gore.

Al Gore understands how critical the challenges are that we face and what needs to be done to restore America to the rule of law. He has been in the House for eight years; the Senate for eight years; and served as the Vice President of the United States for eight years. His father, an eminent politician in his own right served most of his career in Congress. Al Gore understands the demands of office and he understands that democracy is a fragile thing that needs to be protected if it is to endure.

. Al Gore also has the toughness that we need in a candidate, the intelligence, the willingness to go to the mat. And we believe that he is Destiny's Child, the man not only deserving but best qualified to go the distance and genetically predisposed to the mission ahead..

The military industrial complex and the Republican money machine has tried for years to silence his voice. They have had thirty five years to perfect their system of character assasination. . Yet despite everything they tried, and the complicity of the media, let us not forget that Al Gore won the 2000 election!

This time, he will win in a landslide. Those who clustered around the middle and could not make up their minds, now understand that Bush has caused us to embark on a perilous course where democracy becomes autocracy and tyranny, where privacy and freedoms are jetisoned in order to preserve the Executives unparalleled quest for more and more power.. This especially in a time when war can be precipitated with a simple phone call. We cannot afford this. Our grand-children should be protected against such displays of arrogance. And the commitment of our forefathers and those of our blood who made the commitment to freedom and democracy do not deserve to see these worthy institutions dismantled.

We ask that you join us and sign our petition to encourage Vice President to rise to the occasion again and to fulfill his destiny as the democratic standard bearer in the upcoming election. We know that in numbers there is strength and we seek your support now!...when it is needed most.
