Strange Bedfellows!
The Three Key Players Bound To Face Off In No-Man’s Land…How often can you make a statement based on what you perceive as “the motivations of the key players” and find out almost immediately that you are right on target?.The proof came from a rather insignificant announcement in a online magazine serving Pakistan by one the former members of the Soviet Bloc in what was formerly part of the South-Eastern USSR.This notice, approved by president, Nursultan Nazarbayev dealt with the opening of the new pipeline between Kazakh to the city of Alashanku in Western China.Pipeline! That explains it all if you think about it…Now you see what we are locating bases to the north of Afghanistan and have tried to consolidate our positions in the former colonies belonging to Russia up to the borders of the Chinese juggernaut. Will the future be played out on some anonymous oil field 10,000 miles from home? Will Chinese ambitions and hunger for cheap sources energy position the US against the Chinese for dominion? Clearly this is where the convergence of interests becomes marked. As I stated there is a reason why Putin has tolerated America’s incursion into the area. And it all has to do with oil rights. Friends, this could grow ugly quickly. No one expected the pipeline to China to be completed and operational so fast…The big question: Who is going to lay claim to this area? It is unthinkable that some small former member of the USSR can stand up against the world’s three largest powers.Nationalism vs. financial interests will play out on this one probably sooner rather than later. And we will all have to wait for the outcome. Nor should you expect to believe what either of the players will tell you…Sooner or later, we are going to butt heads and more than likely, this will be the place--a place nobody has ever heard of in the middle of nowhere!...The oil pumped on today traveled from KazTranOil, to the capital, Astana via the state-sponsored oil consortium over 1,000 kilometers to Western China where it will processed and used to feed China’s great thirst for energy. . Capacity as of now: 10 million tons. This 806 million dollar venture is expected to extend 3,000 kilometers by the time it’s completed in 2011.The plot thickens. Considering that Bush has now squandered all of his good will, what are his options? And who will make the first move? Will we see a manufactured crisis on the scale of a 9/11 to justify a bump in the polls and to provide a reason for moving in to secure the supply of oil?
Questions at a time when Bush's lag in the polls was conveniently turned around by
another crisis...
