ACLU Puts It On The Line...

While everyone dips a toe in the water or attempts to avoid the issue altogether, for the last several weeks the ACLU has put its money where it's heart is at.
They have been running full page ads in the New York Times comparing Nixon to GWB.

The ad shows a picture of Nixon saying that "this man wasn't above the Law" and below it with a picture of Bush and the words, "neither is this one..."

Then it lists the arguments as follows:

"The last time a United States President claimed that he alone had the unilateral paper to tap phones without a judicial order, that incident ended in the national disgrace known as the Watergate scandal. At the time, Congress stepped up to the plate and served as an essential check and balance to preserve democracy for future generations of Americans..."

The ad goes on to make a case for the law and the constitution...

It ends by asking you to call your member of congress and insist on Congressional Hearings and that the Attorney General appoint a special counsel to investigate whether the President violated the Constitution and his oath of office.

The last time, I checked it cost more than 75,000 dollars to run a full page ad in the New York Times. The ACLU had the courage to move on its actions.

Can't we find the courage and the moxie to support our Constitution and the rights of all Americans by doing precisely what this ad asks us as citizens of this great democracy to do...and then ante up a few more bucks for the ACLU so that they can afford to run this ad again and again until everyone supports the actions called for.

It's our Democracy we're talking about here!

Thanks...
